AI Engineer

About the role

We're looking for an AI Engineer to help shape the intelligence at the core of Sola. You'll work directly on the models, prompts, and pipelines that make Sola feel alive — designing how she thinks, responds, and remembers. This is a rare opportunity to work on emotionally intelligent AI at its earliest stage.

What you'll do

• —Design and iterate on the prompting and reasoning systems that power Sola's personality and conversations
• —Build and maintain LLM pipelines for real-time, low-latency voice and text interactions
• —Develop evaluation frameworks to measure response quality, emotional accuracy, and safety
• —Work with the product team to translate user needs into AI behaviour
• —Research and integrate new models, techniques, and tools as the space evolves
• —Own the fine-tuning and RLHF pipelines for personalising Sola to individual users

What we're looking for

• —3+ years of experience working with LLMs in production
• —Deep familiarity with prompt engineering, RAG, and agentic patterns
• —Experience with model evaluation, red-teaming, and safety testing
• —Strong Python skills and comfort with ML frameworks (PyTorch, Hugging Face)
• —Understanding of streaming inference and latency constraints in real-time systems
• —Ability to think about AI behaviour in terms of user experience, not just benchmarks

Nice to have

• —Experience with voice models (TTS/STT) or multimodal AI
• —Background in psychology, linguistics, or cognitive science
• —Prior work on companion AI, mental health tech, or conversational agents
• —Familiarity with fine-tuning open-source models (Mistral, LLaMA, etc.)
